JAEGER Savvy Suiting from Jaeger
Spring/Summer 2010 sees Jaeger’s collection of jackets play with proportion and structure - from drapey silk crepe cropped jackets effortlessly worn in a cardigan style, teamed with high-waisted trousers or shorts, to the city-slick tailoring of the sartorially elegant boyfriend jacket in summer weight wools. The white summer blazer sharpens up, outlined with a black grosgrain braid, while the nipped-in peplum jacket in oyster sateen looks sculptured and feminine when teamed with a tulip wrap skirt. Whatever the occasion, Jaeger has the jacket to suit. Stuart Stockdale, Jaeger’s Design Director, comments: “Jaeger prides itself on a heritage of exquisite design, luxurious fabrics and immaculate fit - from modern work wear to the ultimate statement jacket.” Jaeger

Traditional tailoring is the centrepiece of any Jaeger collection, underscoring the brand’s rich heritage. This season, classic ideas are turned on their heads with the development of key suiting pieces with a twist in fabrication. Firstly, the introduction of a wool seersucker navy suit (seersucker is usually fashioned from cotton). In wool, it has more natural stretch properties, making it neater in cut and shape. Prince of Wales checks are one of Jaeger’s signature looks. This spring a softly constructed version in light blue, woven with white, comes in cotton instead of the traditional wool, making it a super lightweight option. Thirdly, the double-breasted suit gets a modern makeover. Gone is the boxy shape once associated with this look. In its place a sharp jacket cut from Jaeger’s contemporary block, featuring a modern low breaking two-button finish completes a dapper new twist on tradition.
