April showers bode well for a flaming June
After the horrendous rain and gales in April, the long range weather forecast is promising that summer will be here at the beginning of June, just in time for the Sunningwell Festival of Music and Arts. With just over three weeks to go, rehersals taking place, ticket sales on the increase, we are looking forward to what is going to be a fantastic Festival. - RECITAL RAISES £5,250 FOR WARKWORTH CHURCH ROOF APPEAL
Local efforts to raise funds for a new roof for a beautiful 14th Century church in Northamptonshire have hit a high note with the help of a world-leading pianist.
A recital by Valerie Tryon raised £5,250 towards a new metal roof for St Mary's Church at Warkworth, after thieves stole £100,000 worth of lead last year.

- The Oxford Lieder Festival
Building on a triumphant tenth anniversary in 2011, this year’s Oxford Lieder Festival promises to be another sumptuous feast of song between 12 - 27 October. Evening recitals take place in Europe’s oldest concert hall, the Holywell Music Room, with an exceptional line-up of artists including Alice Coote, Birgid Steinberger, Sarah Connolly, Christopher Purves, Katarina Karnéus, Wolfgang Holzmair, Lucy Crowe, Robert Murray, Marcus Farnsworth and James Gilchrist. These concerts are complemented by performances given by the brightest emerging talent, together with a wide-ranging schedule of workshops, masterclasses, lectures and other events.

- GARSINGTON OPERA PRODUCTION SCREENED ON TO A BEACH AT SKEGNESS 3
Garsington Opera’s production of La Périchole will be screened live to a beach in the UK for the first time ever, as part of the largest arts and culture festival on the East Coast, SO Festival in Skegness. The production, which is part of Garsington Opera’s season, is directed by Jeremy Sams, the director behind The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz in London’s West End.
