Throughout 2013 Oxford is playing host to an exciting programme of Britten events encompassing concerts, workshops and study days culminating in the Centenary Birthday Concert in November.

- Music at Oxford's 2012-2013 International Concert Season Launch
This season has a packed calendar of concerts, carefully tailored for Oxford's beautiful buildings and its discerning concertgoers. We launch the season with guitar duo, John Williams and John Etheridge back by popular request. They will perform many of their own much-admired compositions, plus guitar music and transcriptions by other composers.
- Corona Strings 'BEST OF BRITAIN'
Corona Strings celebrate Britten's centenary with an exciting concert at the newly established venue, St John the Evangelist Church. On Saturday 6th April they will perform a programme of the best of British music written for string orchestra featuring Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, Britten's Les Illuminations, Tippett's Concerto for Double String Orchestra and Britten's Simple Symphony.

Biography Ben Gernon
Ben Gernon studied tuba and conducting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has worked with orchestras from London to Sweden . In 2012 he won the second prize in the Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition and is now principal conductor of the Southwark Youth Orchestra.
He assisted Gustavo Dudamel during his LA Phil residency at the Barbican in March.
